Tissue-Tethered
Next-Generation Pathology

Discover Our World!

Entrance of the building

The Genoa ImmunoPathology Center (GIPC) is a pathology research institute based within the University of Genoa, Department of Surgical Sciences and Integrated Diagnostics (DISC).

Our primary research focus is on gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and transplant pathology. We specialize in the tissue-tethered analysis of both neoplastic and non-neoplastic conditions in native and transplant settings. Through the application of next-generation pathology techniques, we investigate clinically relevant etiopathogenetic mechanisms and complex cell-to-cell interactions directly within tissue samples.

Our Work

We focus on delivering innovative research approaches that maximize clinical relevance and translational impact. To achieve this goal, our activities are structured around four foundational cores that define and characterize our work.

ImmunoPathology

At GIPC, immunopathology lies at the heart of our mission. We delve into the complexities of immune biology and cell-to-cell interactions directly on tissue samples, focusing on neoplastic, non-neoplastic, and transplant immunology. Through advanced techniques like multiplex immunohistochemistry, digital pathology, and molecular profiling, we pioneer innovations in understanding and addressing immune-based pathways.

Research &
Scientific Culture Dissemination

Beyond research, the GIPC serves as a hub for education and knowledge sharing. We actively contribute to the global scientific community through publications, collaborations, and conferences. Locally, we aim to inspire and engage by making cutting-edge science accessible to both professionals and the community at large, fostering an evidence-based culture of learning and curiosity.

Quality Assurance

We are committed to the highest standards of quality assurance in pathology and research. From rigorous validation of protocols to reproducibility in experimental designs, we ensure accuracy and reliability in every aspect of our work. This dedication supports robust and impactful discoveries while building trust in our exploratory findings.

Green Pathology

We believe in sustainability and environmental responsibility in medical research. Through "green pathology," we adopt eco-friendly practices in laboratory operations, minimize waste, and explore innovative ways to reduce our ecological footprint, demonstrating that groundbreaking science and environmental stewardship can go hand in hand.
