Form Equals Function
This mantra defines our research philosophy, guiding our exploration of immune biology through advanced next-generation pathology techniques.
Form and function are inseparable: histopathology preserves spatial information that is lost when cells are removed from their tissue context: where they are located, which cells they contact and how they relate to different tissue compartments.
GIPC uses this information to investigate how immune cells and other cellular populations influence one another in cancer, non-neoplastic disease and transplantation.
Our studies combine morphological assessment with quantitative imaging and molecular approaches. We distinguish exploratory associations from validated findings and describe the limitations of each study.
What we mean by tissue-tethered? Tissue-tethered describes analyses that remain linked to the morphology, architecture and spatial organization of the original tissue. Rather than treating cells as isolated units, we study them as components of a structured biological environment.
Green-Path
Sustainable pathology without compromising quality
Green-Path explores how diagnostic and research pathology can evolve toward environmental sustainability without compromising diagnostic accuracy, patient safety, or scientific quality.
This project promotes practical strategies to reduce the environmental footprint of surgical pathology, including energy efficiency, chemical stewardship, solvent recovery, waste reduction, responsible use of consumables, and sustainable digital transformation.
At GIPC, Green-Path reflects our commitment to integrating environmental responsibility into next-generation pathology as a natural extension of quality, innovation, and long-term healthcare sustainability.
